This browser can’t compress video yet. It needs WebCodecs, which recent Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on a computer have. Firefox on Android doesn’t. Try another browser, or use the photo compressor.

        Short answer

To compress video to 25 MB for email, choose it above and keep the 25 MB size. The tool aims for about 24 MB, so you get an MP4 that sits just under the line and fits the services that stop at 25 MB: Gmail, Yahoo Mail and Outlook.com on the web. The video is never uploaded to a server.

How to compress a video to 25 MB

        1. Choose the video

Pick the MP4 or MOV you want to shrink. When you shrink a video to 25 MB, the size of the original matters little: the tool works from the length of the video and the size you ask for, so a large file is handled the same way as a small one.

        2. Keep the 25 MB size

The size is already set to 25 MB, and the tool aims for about 24 MB. That 1 MB of room is deliberate, because a file that lands exactly on a limit can still bounce. The plan on screen shows the picture size, frame rate and expected size before you start.

        3. Compress

Press Compress video to reduce the video size to 25 MB. Your browser re-encodes it as H.264 with AAC sound, then measures the result. If it is over the target, the tool lowers the bitrate, and the resolution or frame rate if needed, and runs again.

        4. Download the MP4

Play the result if you like, then download it. The original is not changed. You get a regular MP4 that attaches or uploads like any other file.

Which services stop at 25 MB

Several of the biggest email services share the same 25 MB ceiling, so a video you compress under 25 MB goes through all of them. Gmail has a page of its own, compress video for Gmail. The Outlook app and iCloud Mail stop lower, at 20 MB. Gmail and Yahoo Mail count all attachments together, so the video should be the only large file in the message. The same tool has other sizes: compress video to 8 MB for a smaller file, and compress video to 50 MB for a place that allows more.

        Service Limit What counts
Gmail, personal account 25 MB All attachments in one email, added together
Yahoo Mail 25 MB The sum of all attached files in one message
Outlook.com on the web 25 MB File attachments

        Questions about 25 MB videos

How to make a video under 25 MB?

To compress a video under 25 MB, choose it above, keep the 25 MB size and press Compress video. The tool plans the bitrate from the length of the video, aims for about 24 MB and checks the result. When a video is simply too long for 25 MB, the plan warns you before you start and the result shows how far over it is.

How long of a video is 25 MB?

It depends on the quality. At good quality, about 41 seconds at 1080p, 1 minute 31 seconds at 720p and 3 minutes 14 seconds at 480p. The tool picks the sharpest resolution that still fits the length of your video, and a longer video is scaled down further, with a warning in the plan. For any other length, use the video size calculator.

Can I compress video to 25 MB without losing quality?

Not entirely, because every compression discards some detail. What you control is how much. At 25 MB a clip of up to 1 minute 31 seconds keeps good quality at 720p, while a longer one is scaled down to fit. The plan warns you when the size is tight for the length, and you can play the result before you download it.

How do I compress an iPhone video to 25 MB?

Open this page in Safari on your iPhone, choose the video from your photo library and press Compress video. Keep the page open until the download is ready. iPhone videos, including the HEVC ones, come out as an H.264 MP4 of no more than about 24 MB, as long as the video is not too long to fit.

Does a 25 MB video fit every email service?

No. 25 MB is the ceiling for Gmail, Yahoo Mail and Outlook.com on the web, but iCloud Mail and the Outlook app stop at 20 MB, so for those compress video to 20 MB. Strict work email can stop at 10 MB, which is a job for compress video to 10 MB.

Is there a free 25 MB video compressor with no sign-up?

Yes, this one. It is free, needs no account, and sets no limit on the size of the file you start with. The work is done on your own device, so a large original simply takes longer.

Can I compress video to 25 MB online without uploading it?

Yes. The page runs in your browser and the video is converted on your device, so it never goes to a server. It works in current Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox, and on an iPhone in Safari.

        Which format do I get?

An MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound, which plays almost everywhere. The sound is kept when your browser can read it, and the tool tells you if it could not.

        Video Compressor: Metras

Our iPhone app makes smaller copies of the videos in your library, right on the device. Choose 25 MB, 20 MB or 10 MB, or enter a size of your own, see the estimate before you start, and compare the copy with the original afterwards. Nothing is uploaded to a server, large batches run in the background with Premium, and your originals stay in Photos until you decide.
